Meet Recap

The Woodridge boys’ cross country team grabbed the school’s 7th State Championship in the last 11 years on Saturday. The top-ranked Bulldogs took advantage of a number of lifetime-best performances to beat the defending state champs from Lexington.

Yousef Elkurd charged the final 600 meters to grab a 5th place finish in the race. His finish earned him first-team All-Ohio honors. Noah Perrin, Micah Blair, and Ryan Palm all grabbed first-team honors on their way to the best 5-man state meet average in school history. Brayden Whited rounded out the scoring with a personal best while Andy Muha and Max Starvaggi made up the remainder of the varsity squad. Micah had the top freshman time of all divisions.

Yousef, Noah, Andy, and Max also earned Academic All-Ohio honors.

The Woodridge cross country program would like to thank the Peninsula Police Department and Valley Fire for the escort home after the win.
