For the 15th year in a row, both the boys and girls cross country teams headed to the OHSAA state meet to compete for a championship on November 2, 2019. It was a great day for the Bulldogs and for our community. In front of a huge Bulldog crowd, the girls were the first to race. In cold and somewhat tough conditions, the girls performed great, led by Anastasia Bakuhn, Leighton Kline, Libby Howard, Izzy Best and Elise Carey to a 9th place finish overall and a top ten finish in the State of Ohio for the 2019 season in Division II.
The Boys team was the next to race at 2:15pm and the conditions of the day did not seem to matter as the boys took 5 of the top 18 individual finishes to win the 2019 Division II State Championship with a Division II record low of 37 points total. The boys were led by All-Ohioans Micah Blair (5th overall) , Ryan Champa (6th overall), Zayd Elkurd (7th overall), Andrew Lauck (17th overall) and Aaron Dutt (18th overall). With this win, the boys tie Caldwell High School for the most State Championships in Ohio history in the sport of Cross Country with 9. Great job yesterday to all who raced and thank you to all parents, teachers, students, alumni and community members who came down to support the Bulldogs!
