In an effort to showcase the tremendous student athletes we have in our Woodridge community, we have continued our “Student Athlete of the Week” program which highlights one outstanding student athlete from each of our High School Varsity programs throughout the school year. The program is made possible through a partnership with Poiema Photo.
This week’s Student Athlete is Riley Galehouse.
Riley is a senior member of the boys cross country program. Riley is a returning scoring member from the 2018 state championship winning team and has overcome numerous injuries during the 2019 season. Riley has worked extremely hard to get back to being healthy at the right time of the season. Coach Jeff Howard says of Riley: “Riley sets a fine example for all the kids in our program. He is intelligent, thoughtful, and persistent. Regardless of setbacks, Riley maintains a positive approach to running and racing. He understands the value of consistent work and long-term goal setting. He never allows himself or his current situation to negatively impact his team or the program.” Riley and the boys cross country team secured the school’s 9th boys cross country state title on November 2nd in Hebron, OH as they were crowned the DII State Champions for the second straight year! Congratulations Riley on a great senior season and to the entire boys cross country program on yet another tremendous season!
