The officials ran the first quarter, throwing their laundry left and right.

Ravenna strikes first but is answered quickly. The first half looks like a very solid match up between the two teams, who both have speed and are looking to break lose, which
Woodridge’s Sanders does late in the 2nd quarter. Ravenna fights back to show the Bulldogs they aren’t quitting. but Woodridge goes the distance in under 20 seconds to respond and go to halftime ahead 24-14.

The third quarter has only one score, which is by Woodridge, now up 31-14.

One more score in the 4th quarter and Woodridge wins 38-14.

Game Summary

1Q

Woodridge receives the opening kickoff, moves down the field, and has a 33 yard TD run by Singletary called back for holding, taking them back to midfield with a 2nd and 21. Woodridge already has 4 penalties, and are forced to punt.

Flags are flying against both teams here in the first quarter. Woodridge stops Ravenna for a 3 and out.

Woodridge takes over deep in Ravenna territory at the 39 yard line, takes a big loss on an attempted reverse, and is at 4th and 10 still on the 39, and then punts. 5:08 left, nothing going on yet.

Ravenna moving toward midfield now, 2nd and 3, looking for their 3rd first down of the drive. Now with under a minute remaining, it's 2nd and 5 for Ravenna on the Woodridge 37. Woodridge has to figure out how to stop the 3 deep I formation running plays.

End of quarter, no score.

2Q

Ravenna opens the 2nd quarter with a 36 yard burst up the middle for a touchdown. Ravenna calls a time out, goes for a 2 pt conversion, which they fail.

Some life is seen from Woodridge in the following possession, and they're threatening to score after great efforts from both Singletary and Sanders. 1st and 10 from the 11. Woodridge finds the zone: Lydic to Taylor from 8 yards out. The PA by Laughorn puts them up 7-6.

Still some time left in the half when Woodridge forces Ravenna to punt it away. After one first down, Lydic feeds Sanders on the left on a screen pass, and he finishes the job, breaking a tackle and going 49 yards for a TD.

With 4:27 to go, Woodridge stops Ravenna again. They will be looking to extend their lead, especially after Singletary blocks the punt! 1st and 10 on the 11. Ravenna digs in, holds Woodridge for 3 downs and forces a field goal attempt, which is good.

Ravenna shows that they aren't done yet, moving down the field with 3 first downs so far. 1st and 10 on the Woodridge 40 with 2:00 remaining. After a 4th and 3 is made, Ravenna has 0:35 left to decrease the Woodridge lead.

A complete pitch pass takes Ravenna down to the Woodridge 3 yard line, with 0:27 to go. Ravenna scores and converts the 2 pt PA to close the lead.

In under 20 seconds, Lydic finds Snyder up the left sideline for a big gain to the Ravenna 47, and then Lydic tosses up a bomb to Arnett, who makes the adjustment and then elludes a defender to waltz into the end zone…a TD when the half expires. Laughorn adds the exclamation point PA. 24-14 Woodridge at the half.

Woodridge stops Ravenna on their opening drive of the second half, taking over at their own 29 with 9:55 to go.

A quick first down, followed by an untimely penalty that brings a long Lydic run all the way back to their own 30, 1st at 19. Woodridge quick punts and puts Ravenna deep in their own territory at the 6. 7:45 to go in the 3rd quarter.

Woodridge holds Ravenna and starts again, 1st and 10 on the Ravenna 36. They score on a Lydic to Kelleher connection from 25 yards out.

Another stop gives Woodridge the ball at their own 33 with 2:06 left in the 3rd. Lydic just misses Sanders up the sideline, followed by a holding penalty at it's 3rd and 24 on their own 19. Ravenna stops them, and Woodridge punts.

4Q

To open the 4th quarter, Woodridge holds Ravenna on a 4th down by only inches and takes over at their own 39. After a couple solid plays, Woodridge stalls, facing a 4th and 10 on the Ravenna 33. Ravenna takes over right there with 8:29 left in the game.

Lydic breaks the silence in the 4th quarter by finding Snyder for a 56 yard TD pass with 4:17 left.

Ravenna takes over at their own 20 with a sense of urgency, but throws 3 incomplete passes and looks to punt on 4th down. Woodridge takes over with great field position on the Ravenna 39 with 3:42 left. The starters take to the sideline with Woodridge up 38-14.

Meet Recap

These lady bulldog golfers are definitely on a roll! Although they didn’t get the win, a new school record was set tonight. Their team total of 185, broke the lowest team score of 186, in 2011. Also, Captain Kendra Kearns shot a personal best finishing her round with a 38, which was just 3 over par. Her round included 3 pars and 2 birdies. Sophomores Kayla Kearns and Liz Presley both finished their rounds with a new personal best by each shooting a 47. Kayla was able to make a par in her round and Liz was able to make 2 pars. Sophomore Reagan Wesig shot her personal best tonight too, by shooting a 53, which included a par. Freshman Haley Roenigk also shot a 53 tonight, which included a birdie. There was not one score in the 60’s tonight. The girls head to Sunny Hill Golf Course in Kent, Oh Monday, September 18, for their 2017 Portage Trail Conference Tournament.

Game Recap

The Bulldogs traveled to Akron Springfield, taking on the Spartans. The Bulldogs came out flat in the first set. Trailing 21-13, the Bulldogs staged a comeback and almost pulled out the win. However, they couldn’t finish and lost 24-26. The second set was a different story. Led by Ella Lathem with 4 kills, the Bulldogs won the second set 25-16. The third set featured Bailey Thompson leading the charge with 5 ace serves, finishing the Spartans off 25-10. The fourth set was led by Jacierra Arnett, who had 3 kills and 1 block. The fourth set ended 25-6.

Meet Recap

Wow, wow, wow! It was another AWESOME evening for the lady bulldog golfers! They were victorious against Garfield and Springfield. The team also broke their lowest team total by by shooting a 196 tonight. Senior Captain Kendra Kearns led her team by shooting another 43 tonight, which included 2 pars. Sophomores Avery Rickenbacher (50), Kayla Kearns (51) and Hayley Roenigk (52) were able to give their team great rounds too. Avery’s round included a par and a birdie. Haley’s round was another personal best. Also, last night the girls broke the record for the most wins by a Woodridge Girls Golf Team, and did it again tonight to set the new record and make it 10 wins overall. An added highlight was when Sophomore Mia Miller finished her round scoring 57 and making it her personal best in a match. The Lady Bulldog Golfers travel to Loyal Oak Golf Course in Norton, OH tomorrow, September 15th to take on Norton, at 3:45 PM.

Meet Recap

Wow, such an AWESOME evening for the lady bulldog golfers! It was senior night for our Captain Kendra Kearns and the team pulled together to give her a great night to remember. Last night, the girls actually broke the record for the most wins by a Woodridge Girls Golf Team. The record was six and the girls clinched their seventh win. Tonight the record setting continued as the girls earned their eight win this season. They were able to get the win by shooting 33 strokes better than Garfield. Kendra not only led her team tonight, she also shot a personal best at Brandywine by finishing her round with a 43. Plus, she made 4 pars. Sophomore Kayla Kearns was able to give her team another great round too, as she finished her round with a 48 and made 2 pars. Other contributing members were Freshman Hayley Roenigk, who shot her personal best again by finishing her round with a 55, and Sophomore Isabella Chirakos who was able to shoot a 57. The Lady Bulldog Golfers travel to Sugar Bush Golf Course in Garrettsville, OH tomorrow, September 14th to take on Garfield, at 3:45 PM.
