At Woodridge, our Student-Athlete Spotlights recognize standout performers from each of our varsity sports every season. These features highlight not only the accomplishments of our athletes, but also the leadership, dedication, and passion they bring to their teams.
This week, we are proud to feature junior Blake Pumper, a key member of the Woodridge baseball program.
Blake has been a major contributor for the Bulldogs this season as a starting pitcher and versatile defender at both outfield and first base. On the mound, Blake currently leads the team in innings pitched, wins, and strikeouts, consistently giving the Bulldogs strong performances every time he takes the ball.
Defensively, Blake has also been one of the team’s most reliable players, posting the best fielding percentage on the roster with only one error committed all season. Offensively, he continues to make an impact at the plate as well, batting an impressive .432 while ranking among the team leaders in both runs batted in and runs scored.
Blake’s success comes from his hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to improving every day. Beyond his performance on the field, he is known for being a positive teammate who consistently supports those around him.
Head Coach Dennis Dever shared:
“Blake Pumper is an outstanding student and human being, exemplifying what it means to be a Woodridge Bulldog baseball player. He is always positive and supports his teammates no matter what. Through hard work and attention to detail, he has turned himself into a very good baseball player.”
Blake’s dedication, leadership, and team-first attitude represent what it means to be a Bulldog—committed, hardworking, and always striving to improve.
Congratulations to Blake on an outstanding season so far, and best of luck to the Bulldogs as they continue their season with the OHSAA Sectional tournament this week on Thursday at 5pm at home vs Ursuline!
