At Woodridge, our Student-Athlete Spotlights recognize standout performers from each of our varsity sports every season. These features highlight not only the skill and achievements of our athletes, but also the leadership and dedication they bring to their teams.
This week, we are proud to feature senior Brandon Rathbun, a key member of the Woodridge varsity boys bowling team. A four-year member of the program, Brandon has been a steady and reliable presence on the lanes throughout his career.
Brandon is one of the Bulldogs’ top three bowlers and opened his senior season with several outstanding performances. At the MAC Preseason Tournament, Brandon rolled an impressive three-game series of 696 (213, 241, 242), earning a first-place medal and a spot on the All-Tournament Team. He followed that up with strong early-season matches, including a 161 and 182 performance as the third-highest scorer in the season opener, and a 437 two-game series (234, 203) that helped lead the Bulldogs to a convincing victory over Coventry. Brandon currently carries an impressive 210 per game average.
Head Coach Keith Shovestull says of Brandon: “Brandon is a vital part of our program, and his selection to represent the bowling team goes beyond just his athletic skill. He embodies the core values of this team — a tireless work ethic, true leadership qualities, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the lanes.”
Brandon’s impact extends beyond bowling. In the classroom, he carries a 4.40 GPA, is a member of National Honor Society, and participates in Art Club. He has also been a multi-sport athlete at Woodridge, competing in baseball, tennis, and golf, further demonstrating his dedication and versatility.
Brandon’s commitment, leadership, and consistent excellence truly represent what it means to be a Bulldog.
Congratulations to Brandon on a tremendous start to his senior season, and best of luck to the Bulldogs as the bowling season continues! 🎳
