The Woodridge boys track and field team had a very strong opener in the new Metro Athletic Conference by beating both Field and Springfield in a double dual meet.
The victories are a very good step towards the goal of winning the conference championship. The bulldogs were strong in all areas. The throwers, jumpers, sprinters, hurdlers and relay squads combined with the distance runners to control the meet from start to finish. Many kids are being asked to compete in events they have either been only briefly acquainted with or have never done before.
Kyle Carey and Nic Taffini finished 1 -2 in the 110meter and 300meter hurdles.
Ryan Champa, Ryan and Andrew Lauck Aaron Dutt, Caden Hibbs, Sam Su, and too many others to name, left no doubt as to why the boys cross country team was state champions in the Fall.
Danny Byterbaev , Cooper DeFrange led the jumpers to high points in those events as well as running in relays.
Dom Stacik, Jacob Looman, David Fritz and others came through with needed points in the sprints and sprint relays.
Zade Elkurd dominated the 200 and 400 meters. New events for him in the last week.
Angelo Regec had midseason marks in the throws to round out a complete team effort.
Woodridge travels next to Kenston to compete at the Kenston relays on Friday evening.
