Managing difficult things has been the mantra for the Woodridge cross country team all fall. From injuries to illness, the girls have seen it all. The Boardman Regional was just another page in the book. Great competition, rain, mud, and sloppy conditions were not enough to prevent a late charge and another state berth for the young women representing Woodridge on Saturday.
Izzy Best led the way with a 16th place finish. This was good enough to earn a medal and would have qualified individually had her teammates not come through. Libby Howard, Sarah Frederick, Jenna Kaiser, Leah Stanfield, Rosie Sterling, and Anastasia Bakuhn managed the conditions better than a number of teams what were successful earlier in the fall. Frederick, Kaiser, and Stanfield managed a ferocious last 500 meters to secure the state berth.
The girls will run in Hebron, Ohio next Saturday at 2:15. We would like to thank all the Woodridge families, classmates, and staff that made the trip to help the girls reach their goal.
