Here we go out at Field High School on a beautiful night for some football. Woodridge comes in 3-3 overall, 2-1 in the PTC, facing the Falcons who are 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the league. It’s senior night out here, the sun is down, the lights are on, and Woodridge is kicking off….left to right if you’re in the visiting stands.

After a big first down gain, Woodridge stops Field at midfield…however on 4th and 2 the Falcons gamble successfully and the QB sneaks for a first down. A nice screen play combined with a ground drive puts Field deep in Woodridge territory early, and they finish with a 5 yard run to Zavier Smith around the left end for the game’s first score. 5:46 left in the 1st Quarter, Woodridge trails 0-7.

A KO out of bounds results in a rekick and great field position when Williams returns it from his own 22 to the Field 47. However, Woodridge goes backwards on the first two downs, gains five on a quick pass play..and is now at midfield themselves facing a 4th and 13. Mekeal quick kicks it down to the 24. Field ball, 3:24 left in Q1 .

Woodridge seems to have a hard time picking up who has the ball as the Falcons begin to move down the field again. The home crowd erupts as Field’s Davis takes a sweep around the right side for a 52 yard touchdown. The Woodridge sideline and stands look on in disbelief. It feels like last week. Question is, can Woodridge take control?

Woodridge fails to move the ball as we head into the 2nd quarter. Field takes over on downs at their own 47 yard line.

Field is owning the line of scrimmage….and they just ran another QB sneak on 1st down. Woodridge must find a way to control things between the tackles. With 9:15 to go, Field is looking to go up by three scores….and they do.

With 6:11 left in the half, Woodridge has made a couple first downs and works into the red zone, 1st and 10 at the Falcon 19. We really need a score here to keep things manageable for any sort of comeback.

And Woodridge, calling a timeout on 4th and 9 from the 18, finds a way! Mekeal finds Williams on a wheel route to the right for a touchdown!

With the time in the half winding down, Woodridge almost forces a four and out…now instead of hoping to score again and bring it within 7, Woodridge must stop Field from scoring yet again. Luckily, Field drops a would-be touchdown pass to their own running back, and we go to halftime…Woodridge trailing 7-14.

Woodridge comes out looking like a new team, running hard, throwing and catching…but stall at the Falcon 40 and is forced to punt.

Field chews up most of the 3rd quarter marching down the field to score again. 4:28 left in the 3rd, Field 28 – Woodridge 7.

A fumble on 3rd, a fumbled punt snap, and a play later Field scores yet again from the Woodridge five yard line. The Field fans are singing along to the PA music….Sweet Caroline….

Woodridge is intercepted. The third quarter ends, Field has 2nd and Goal from the Woodridge 1. The next play from scrimmage is what you would expect….

Field scores from 68 yards out.

Mekeal finds Mally for a 68 yard answer.

It’s 48-14 now and the clock is spinning on…..reserves have been in for some time. It’s time to go home.

But not before Hitching’s tipped pass is snagged by Parker in the end zone for Woodridge!
