Half hour weather delay has Woodridge @ Streetsboro starting at 7:30. Ends up as a beautiful, cool evening.
Woodridge kicks off to start the game and forces a 3 and out, receiving the ball on a punt and start on their own 40, but also fails to get a first down and attempts to punt, but the punters knee touches the ground, giving Streetsboro the ball deep in Woodridge territory.
Woodridge stops them, and on 1st and 10 from their own 36, Woodridge stuns the Rockets with a 64 yard TD, Mekeal passing to DJ Snyder who burned two defenders deep over the middle.
Another quick stop for the Woodridge D and Mekeal finds Snyder again, this time for a 42 yard TD pass.
Streetsboro, looking to spark some energy, busts the ensuing KO return to the Woodridge 41 with just over 4:00 to go. They score a few plays later when Klimak keeps it up the middle for 29 yards.
Q1 ends with Woodridge up 14-7, with the ball 3rd and 9 on the Rocket 40.
Woodridge continues driving toward the zone when quarter opens, and Cody finds paydirt from 20 yards out. After the Laughorn completes the point after, Woodridge is up 21-7.
Streetsboro is all the way to the Woodridge 20 in a few plays when they fumble and turn it over. Woodridge takes over on their own 15 but is forced to punt with 9:44 left to go in the 2nd.
A huge Streets punt return is nullified, but two downs later Klimak finds a wide open Carey for 47 yards and Streetsboro closes it to 21-14, still Woodridge.
Arnett returns the KO right up the middle for an 82 yard TD, continuing the offensive battle.
The slugfest continues as Streetsboro drives down the field and scores again from 3 yards, making it 21-28 with 5:21 to go in the half.
With 3:55 Woodridge is forced to punt. On 1st and 10, Riley-Richardson busts a 62 yarder up the middle for a TD. The PA ties the game at 28 with 3:45 to go in the half.
Woodridge puts together a nice drive together, including a double reverse to Hunter Grant, looking to score before halftime. Mekeal does find Grant from 5 yards out and Woodridge is back in the lead.
An interception right before the half looks promising as Lehrer returns it to the Rocket 32…however the Streetsboro clock isn’t stopped and Woodridge loses a potential play.
Woodridge receives the ball deep in their, but Mekeal throws a few strikes, including a 47 yarder to Albright, and then a 34 yd TD to Snyder two plays later. With 9:52 to go, Woodridge is back up by two scores, 42-28.
An interception by Woodridge is quickly reversed when Woodridge fumbles and loses the ball. 7:00 to go in the 3rd with Streetsboro starting at midfield.
DJ Snyder with a stellar 51 yard punt return going far to the right then cutting deep against the grain left across the field. Tack on a face mask and Woodridge has it 1st and 10 on the SB 29.
Woodridge finds their way into the endzone with Mekeal tossing his 5th TD Pass, this one again to Snyder from 12 yards.
Down by three scores and nearing the end of the 3rd quarter, Streetsboro goes for a 4th and short and is stopped cold by the Woodridge defense. When the quarter ends, Woodridge faces a 3rd and 11 on the Boro 32.
Woodridge has taken the heart out of SB and is chewing the clock up. No score in the 4th quarter at all, even when Woodridge takes it all the way to the SB 5. Boro takes over on downs with 3:38 and 3 scores to go.
